Every ship can have a variety of technologies to perform tasks and upgrade the efficiency and/or power of installed systems. These must be built with acquired resources in an empty slot in the ship cargo interface or the mining interface.

Each module is built from a known technology. You may only build modules that you have discovered the technology for. If an event has removed the technology from your ship database you can no longer build the module, but any existing modules can still be used and repaired. Modules cannot be transferred between ships.

Protects the ship from damage when landing on or orbiting planets or stars by adding 2-3 bars of Resistance (depending on Ship).

Can be greatly strengthened with upgrades.

Expands your ship storage. Additional space is 3-7 slots depending on ship, (more on smaller ships), with most common addition being 4. Those slots can only be used for storage, not for building. All contents are lost if module gets damaged.

Allows you to make a backup ship where you'll resurrect when you die. Several ships can be used as backup, but the most recently-built Embryo will be your first respawn point, before all others.

Is immune to damage.

Upgrade Modules

These modules Improve functionality or efficiency of other modules already on your ship. They have prerequisites modules for installation and in some cases efficiency is increased when build in a module slot next to the required module.

Repairing the Solar Sails (Au 2) is more expansive than dismantling it first and then rebuilding it (Au 1).
